An opera begins long before the curtain goes up and ends long after it has come down. It starts in my imagination, it becomes my life, and it stays part of my life long after I've left the opera house.
~Maria Callas

Today was our second day of OPERAtion Imagination! performances in the area elementary schools. I had an absolute blast with this program and I already can't wait to do it next year.

These pictures are of me singing the role of Rosalinde from Johan Strauss' Die Fledermaus. I think it's one of my favorite roles to sing, and this particular trio is a lot of fun. Joel took these pictures while we were performing for the kids at Houghton Elementary, which is where my children attend. It was really fun to watch Chloe and her friends and see how much they enjoyed the performance.

I'm just glad I didn't embarrass her too much--or scare her friends away with my eyes bugging out like that!

  1. I just saw Die Fledermaus last weekend....my son, Brenham, was in the chorus. Wonderful production put on by the Butler Opera Theater of the Butler School of Music at the University of Texas. Of course I thought my son was the best one on the stage.
